Many departments at the University of Washington offer courses relevant to research in controlling HIV. In addition to courses, several graduate certificates are also in development. Below are a just a few of the available options.

NMETH 515 / EPI 549 - Sociobehavioral & Prevention Research Methods for HIV & STI (3 credits, offered spring)
Focuses on
prevention methods for controlling HIV/STI epidemics, identifying a range of alternatives along the prevention continuum
as most appropriate and feasible for settings and populations, and solutions to increase HIV/STI prevention agenda in
public health and clinical policy and practice.

HSERV 526 A - Qualitative Research Methods for
Public Health (3 credits, offered spring)
Covers a range of qualitative, ethnographic tools for
practical applications in public health. Methods covered include direct observation, informant interviews, focus groups,
and formal methods. Covers Rapid Assessment Procedures and Participatory Action Research. Student teams investigate
research questions using these techniques.
